Kids Around Dogs

KAD - Kids Around Dogs is an award-winning association of Dog Professionals and Child Care, Professionals who specialise in helping families with children to train their dogs and live in harmony together.

I am honoured to be a Kids Around Dog Trainer. For me, there is nothing better than the bond between a child and their dog. I feel it is important to help families and children understand their dogs better. Dogs communicate with us all the time with their body language we tend to miss a lot of what they say if we pay attention and learn how they speak to us it can be very special.

Not only do I help families with their dogs and children coming together to form a stronger more understanding relationship, I also help children who are scared of dogs and don’t actually own a dog.

It can be very unsafe if a child is scared of dogs, this can lead to them trying to run across a road to get away from a dog and owner walking towards them, running off in parks, falling over trying to escape. It can be very, very worrying for the child and they can hurt themselves.

I have worked with a number of children to help over come their fear.

KAD training is CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) with a very successful protocol to overcome the fear of dogs in kids.

If you have your own dog they can be used as part of the program, they will require as assessment first. Otherwise I use my own dogs two of which are Pets as Therapy dogs and all three have passed the KAD assessment.

I offer a 12-week program 7 of which are all online with sessions lasting between 20-30 minutes. After those sessions we then have 5 in person meetings with my dogs or yours. The first 2 sessions are 30 minutes as this introduces my dogs then the further 3 sessions are an hour at the park with my dogs and learning about other dogs and how we can deal with them in public places so it is safe for the child.

The FULL course is £250 at the end the child will receive a badge, KAD colouring book, certificate, and rosette.
